A man was killed and a police officer hospitalized Tuesday after they both fell into a gorge at Niagara Falls. To rescue the police officer, rescuers extended a fire truck ladder over the gorge, lowered down a stretcher and used a rope to get him out. Authorities say the officer was chasing the man when they both went over a retaining wall. The officer was airlifted to the hospital with a broken leg. The man was found dead at the scene. Ontario's Special Investigators Unit is investigating.
