2 Brunswick residents busted with 15 lbs. of pot

MEDINA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - A male and female from Bennington Blvd. in Brunswick were arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with possession of more than 15 pounds of marijuana.

Azya Burden, age 20, and Gerald "Vegas" Bowerman, age 31, were each charged with one count of Possession of Marijuana.

Agents from the Medina County Drug Task Force worked with U.S. Postal Inspectors on a joint investigation. The two were arrested after receiving a package containing the marijuana at their Bennington Blvd. residence.

Task force agents, Postal Inspectors and Brunswick police officers conducted surveillance on the residence throughout the morning. Once the package was received by Burden officers attempted to take her and Bowerman into custody. Both attempted to flee the area on foot but were arrested after a short foot pursuit.

Two additional people in the apartment also fled on foot. They were not immediately caught, however their identities are known and criminal charges are likely against each of them.

Drug Task Force agents executed the search warrant at 4252 Bennington Blvd. in Brunswick. Additional evidence against those involved was seized from the home.

Gerald Bowerman has an extensive criminal record, primarily involving drugs. He is currently on parole after serving 8 years in prison as a result of being caught in Stark County, Ohio with more than 400 pounds of marijuana. Azya Burden has no criminal record.

Both were taken to the Medina County Jail pending arraignment in the Medina Municipal Court.
