AVON, OH (WOIO) - The Lorain father accused of leading police on a high speed chase with a baby in the car will be arraigned Thursday morning.
It all started Tuesday afternoon when Avon police got a call about a theft in progress at the Kohl's store in Avon Commons.
Witnesses say Josue Rodriguez, 30, ran out, tossed the baby in the car and sped off.
Police say Rodriguez was driving recklessly, going westbound on Detroit Road, almost hitting several cars.
Police tried to pull him over, but then dispatch told them there was a baby in the car, so they called off the chase.
Seconds later, the suspect ran a red light and crashed into two cars, an officer pulled the injured baby out of the car.
Rodriguez and one of the other drivers also hurt.
The baby rushed to Rainbow. Rodriguez airlifted to Metro. The other driver also treated. None of the injuries are life threatening.
