Body found in Parma Metroparks now id'd

PARMA, OH (WOIO) - New information on a body found in the Metroparks Friday afternoon.

The victim has been id'd as Kevin Hitchcock, 27, of Cleveland.

Officials say he was id'd by fingerprints by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner and then positively id'd by family members.

Parks Rangers and Police are calling his death suspicious, but the exact cause of death remains under investigation.

Parma Police and Metroparks Rangers found an abandoned Chevy Cobalt at Camp Corde, the old Catholic camp for kids. Police towed the car away, but haven't said how or if it's related to the case.

A construction worker found the body at the West Creek Reservation  on W. Ridgewood near Broadview Rd. in Parma.

"It was about 100 feet away from the television broadcast tower," said Cleveland Metroparks Ranger, Lt. Mark Hayner.

The body was found at the foot of the WOIO-WUAB-TV broadcast tower.

"I always felt safe back there, nice big open area back there," said Bob Streichert, a neighbor.

"It's definitely scary having young kids around and not knowing what's going on right across the street," said Marta Mendizabal, a Parma resident.
