The Browns linebacker corps was already thin, it was even worse after practice on Saturday morning.
Chris Gocong suffered a season ending torn Achilles tendon injury while playing pass defense in the end zone. Gocong went down, was tended to for several minutes by the trainers and was eventually carted off the field.
Scott Fujita is already out for the first three games of the regular season because of his connection to the New Orleans bounty/pay for play scandal. Kaluka Maiava and rookie James-Michael Johnson will now be counted on heavily. Both will likely be starters at the outside linebacker spots for the first three weeks, one will have to take Gocong's place for the season. The Browns will also need to sign a free agent linebacker to help with depth.
