Berea (WOIO) - Browns head coach Pat Shurmur has finally ended what little suspense there was in the quarterback competition, naming rookie Brandon Weeden his starting quarterback on Monday.
"Brandon will start against Detroit (on Friday), and will start going forward", said Shurmur following the afternoon practice.
The Browns drafted the 28-year old Weeden 22nd overall out of Oklahoma State in April's draft, immediately leading to speculation that he'd be the new starting quarterback, considering his age, and draft position. The question is, where does this leave Colt McCoy? Last year's starter could be second on the depth chart, or third, but it's just as likely that he'll be traded, with Seneca Wallace becoming the backup quarterback.
