Jeff Wolfert's 45-yard field goal in the final minute capped off a fourth-quarter comeback for the Browns, as they squeaked by the Lions in the preseason opener, 19-17 at Ford Field.
Brandon Weeden started at quarterback, making his NFL debut, but managed only three completions in nine attempts, and also fumbled once and threw an interception.
Colt McCoy played the second quarter, and led the Browns to a field goal. It would be Seneca Wallace finally finding the end zone in the third quarter, hooking up with Brad Smelley on a 12-yard TD pass.
Adonis Thomas scored the Browns' second touchdown in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run, pulling the Browns within one at 17-16, and setting the stage for Wolfert's last-minute field goal.
