Former Kent State point guard Michael Porrini is ready to embark on his professional career.  Porrini has signed a contact with Turkish Basketball Club, Gelisim Koleji Spor Kulubu of the Turkish Basketball League, TB2L.  The season is expected to start in mid-October and run thru the end of April.

A two-year letter winner for the Golden Flashes, Porrini was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of Year in 2011.  The versatile guard was the only player in the MAC to average better than nine points, five assists and four rebounds during league play this past season. In two years with the Golden Flashes, the Massillon, Ohio product racked up 313 assists, averaging over 4.5 per game.

"I am really excited for Mike and this next step in his basketball career," said Kent State Head Coach Rob Senderoff.  "Mike was a terrific player for us and a fierce competitor on the court.  Our coaching staff all wishes him the best of luck."
