San Francisco (WOIO) - San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera has been suspended for 50 games without pay for testing positive for testerone, violating MLB's performance-enhancing substance policy.
Cabrera, the All-Star game MVP, is having a phenomenal season, hitting .346 with 11 home runs and 60 RBI's. It's a huge blow to the Giants' chances of winning the National League West. They're currently neck and neck with the Dodgers atop the division.
If the Giants do make the playoffs, Cabrera could return five games into the postseason.
