COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - One man was killed, and another was injured after a car accident in Columbia Township. The crash happened just after midnight on Friday. The accident is currently under investigation by the Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Police say that Dustin C. Phillips, 26, of Columbia Station, Ohio was traveling southbound on SR 252 near Snell Road, in a blue Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck, when he traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail and a tree. The vehicle continued down an embankment and overturned.
Benjamin A. Sarantos, 24, of Chardon, Ohio, was a passenger in the vehicle. Sarantos was flown to Cleveland Metro with non-life threatening injuries.
The Patrol believe that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
