Bank robbery suspect identified, fingered in other heists

Detectives in Akron have identified the suspect in last Friday's bank robbery through physical evidence.

Detectives signed a warrant for robbery on Ralphel Antonio Penn, 25, of Cox Drive in Stow. Detectives are asking for the public's help in locating Penn. 

Police say Penn robbed the First Merit Bank on Brittain Road shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday, August 17.

Bank employees reported the suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled. No weapon was seen.

Penn is a black man, 20 - 25 years old, 5'08" - 5'09", thin, clean shaven, wearing a brown baseball hat, tan short sleeve shirt, black vest and black pants. He was last seen running southbound from the bank.

Penn may also be responsible for two other bank robberies, one in Northfield Village and the other in Solon. Additional charges are expected.
