A former judge convicted in the Cuyahoga County corruption probe was in court Thursday to answer to traffic violations. Bridget McCafferty struck a plea deal. She pleaded to slow speed, and the reckless operation charge was dropped. She was fined $100, and $150 in court costs. Two points will be added on her license. Just after midnight on July 18, McCafferty was charged with reckless operation and slow speed (going below speed limit) at I-90 and East 152nd.  McCafferty was sentenced last August to 14 months in federal prison for lying to the FBI in the corruption investigation. McCafferty is still in federal custody, but is in the final stages of her 14 month sentence at the Oriana House on East 55th Street. McCafferty becomes a free woman on September 17.

A Navy SEAL has written a book giving a firsthand account of the raid that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. It will be released on Sept. 11, according to the publishing company. No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama bin Laden was written by a SEAL using a pen name. That SEAL is no longer on duty. U.S. Special Operations Command has not reviewed the book or approved it, according to officials. They would like to see a copy of the book, however, to make sure no classified information is released.
