New Franklin man rushed to hospital after trailer explosion

NEW FRANKLIN, OH (WOIO) - A New Franklin man rushed to the hospital after a trailer explosion on Thursday night.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. at the Rex Hill Trailer Park in Summit County.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the trailer on Buddy Street to be fully engulfed in flames. Crews were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes with assistance from Barberton, Coventry and Clinton firefighters.

The trailer was a total loss.

A male resident of the home was transported to Akron City Hospital. No word on his condition at this time.

Two nearby trailers were damaged by the explosion and fire. The residents of those trailers were not at home at the time of the explosion.

Investigators are working with the State Fire Marshall's Office and New Franklin Police to determine the cause of the explosion.
