Saturday marks the 10th anniversary of the dedication of the West Park Cleveland Police and Firefighters Memorial Walkway.
The memorial was built to honor those brave officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Built in memory of 20 Police Officers and Firefighters who lived in or died in the line of duty in West Park, the memorial features each hero's name etched in marble and bronze.
It's located on Rocky River Drive, the memorial walkway begins at Edgecliff Avenue and runs north for one third of a mile along the Metroparks Canyon. It not only recognizes the tremendous sacrifice the fallen officers made but offers their families and the community a gathering place to honor their memory.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary, there was a rededication ceremony where hundreds of family members of fallen officers and firefighters attended.
The rededication ceremony featured color guards, a motorcycle escort, and fire and police equipment.
