American Academy of Pediatrics revises policy on circumcision

(WOIO) -

New evidence shows the health benefits of circumcision outweigh the risks for newborn boys, but the benefits are not enough for doctors to routinely recommend it for all boys.

That's according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The Academy says the decision should be made by parents and doctors. Research shows the health benefits of circumcision include lower risks of getting HIV, genital herpes, HPV and syphilis.
