Akron police find meth lab while investigating man's death

AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Around 11 a.m. Monday morning, Akron cops responded to call for a man down near the intersection of South Seiberling Street and Englewood Avenue.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Patrick M. Pettit with a last known address of League Street, was found unresponsive. He was transported to Akron City Hospital where he later died.

Officers and detectives following up on the death of Pettit, went to Pettit's address on League Street and recovered a full meth lab in the apartment.

Officers recovered fuel bottles, acids, Coleman Fuel, filters, pseudo boxes, blister packs, and other equipment used to cook meth.

Four individuals at the apartment were arrested.

Officers arrested 48-year-old Eugene D. McElwee, 35-year-old Kurt D. Lansberry, 27-year-old Stephanie M. Lansberry and 38-year-old Brian L. Wallace. They were charged with Illegal Manufacturing of Methamphetamines, Illegal Assembly of Chemicals, Possession of Methamphetamines and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. All four individuals were booked into the Summit County Jail.

Pettit's death remains under investigation.
