Berea (WOIO) - Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said starting quarterback Brandon Weeden will not play against Chicago in the team's final preseason game on Thursday. Colt McCoy will start in the rookie's place at the stadium.
Shurmur also said Seneca Wallace and Thaddeus Lewis will also see playing time against the Bears. He didn't indicate how much time each quarterback will see.
It's reasonable to believe either McCoy or Wallace won't be in a Browns uniform when the season begins on September 9 against Philadelphia.
Whether the team cuts or trades one of them remains to be seen, but one of them will be the back-up. The roster needs to be at 53 players by Friday night at 9:00 P.M.
McCoy has had an impressive preseason, completing 75% of his passes to go along with a 119.1 QB rating.
The head coach said most of the first team players will sit Thursday.
