Bear in Bedford, Gas Prices Falling, Vice President's U-Haul Stolen

Firefighters and police have cornered a black bear in Bedford.  Officials were called to the Rockside Park Towers on Rockside Road after residents spotted the bear around 7:30 a.m. Wildlife experts from Ohio Department of Natural Resources are also on scene. They tell 19 Action News they don't plan to tranquilize the bear at this time. They hope the bear comes down from the tree and runs off.  The bear is estimated to be around 400 pounds and stand over 6-feet tall. A bear was first spotted in the Bedford and Bedford Heights area on Monday evening. It is unknown if this is the same bear.  A bear was also spotted in Streetsboro this past weekend.

Average retail gasoline prices in Cleveland have fallen 5.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.85/g Monday. This compares with the national average that has increased 1.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.80/g, according to gasoline price website Including the change in gas prices in Cleveland during the past week, prices Monday were 16.7 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 1.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has increased 20.3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 12.9 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago. @

Vice President Joe Biden spend his Labor Day campaigning in Detroit, but without some of his usual campaign equipment. A U-Haul truck loaded with materials for a typical vice presidential event was stolen over the weekend outside a Detroit hotel. The truck was recovered Monday evening by police near Henry Ford Hospital. Some of the contents were found earlier at an abandoned house. The rest appeared to be inside the vehicle. Police are trying to identify a man captured on camera in connection with the heist.
