PARMA, OH (WOIO) - The Parma Fire Department was called to the area of York and Pleasant Valley for a call of a child that fell into a catch basin late Tuesday afternoon.
A teen was riding his bike with another teen when he fell into a catch drain behind the Mandarin House in the plaza at the intersection where he was swept into a 36-inch drain.
13 firefighters were called to the scene and started pulling off manhole covers in the area and yelling into them in hopes to hear him.
According to firefighters, six manhole covers and about 1500 feet away from the entrance of the pipe, someone answered them. One firefighter in a water rescue suit, was tied off and entered the manhole and found the boy
The teen was conscious and alert after being pulled out and is being transported to MetroHealth Medical Center with his father to be checked out.
