The mother who left her children home alone so she could play bingo was sentenced to prison on Thursday.
Quatina Watkins was sentenced to 30 months in prison. While she was being sentenced, Watkins broke down in court to the point of interrupting the judge.
The 33-year-old Cleveland mother left five of her six children at home, the oldest was 13 and responsible for the other four.
While Watkins was gone, a fire started in the house resulting in her 7-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son being admitted to the hospital after being rescued by a neighbor and the fire department.
Watkins received a phone call from the 13-year-old earlier that evening about smoke coming from the basement, but did not return home at that time and told the children to open windows to clear the smoke.
One child is now in a vegetative state as a result of injuries suffered in the fire.
