A Cleveland mail carrier found a suspicious package on the city's east side Thursday afternoon.
It happened around 1:30 p.m. at Independence and Sykora Roads.
The carrier was doing his rounds when he found the object in a blue mailbox on the street. Three nearby homes were evacuated for a short time as a precaution and residents of eight other homes were told to 'shelter in place'. No vehicles were allowed in the area while the Bomb Squad and the Narcotics Unit investigated.
The scene was cleared around 5:30 p.m. after Bomb Squad members partially removed the suspicious package and tested it for explosives.
No word yet on what the package contained.
