OHIO (WOIO) - The Ohio Department of Health is reporting 67 human cases of West Nile in the state of Ohio.
As of September 6, the break-down by county is: Allen (3), Butler (1), Clark (6), Clermont (1), Cuyahoga (22), Defiance (1), Franklin (4), Hamilton (5), Lorain (1), Lucas (3), Mercer (2), Miami (1), Montgomery (6), Putnam (1) , Richland (1), Ross (1), Sandusky (1), Stark (1), Van Wert (1), Warren (1) and Wood (1) Counties.
Of these cases, 50 were hospitalized with symptom onset dates from July 10 thru August 28, 2012. There have been 2 human fatalities
The age range of the victims is from 4 to 91-years-old. 36 counties have WNV positive humans, mosquitoes and/or horses and there have been 1073 positive mosquito samples and six positive horses or other animals.
