A local businessman helped Cleveland Police stop a crime wave.
Shops were getting hit up and down Kinsman Road in the area of East 140th Street by criminals taking metal for scrap. A businessman said cameras behind his building caught the crooks in the act of stealing air conditioners.
The man went to work very early one morning, saw a crook climbing down a pipe from the roof, got a license plate and tipped off police.
Fourth District investigators did some legwork and police arrested two men.
The case led Councilman Zack Reed to call for more neighborhood cameras to fight crime.
