Mom accused of stealing thousands from active duty soldier son

A Stark County mother is accused of stealing from her son while he served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Police tell 19 Action News Jennifer Fletcher stole a total of $16,000 from her son between fall of 2010 and spring of 2011.

Fletcher is accused of cashing her son's checks after she forged his signature. She also stole the man's state and federal refunds while he was deployed.

An investigation was launched after the thefts were reported by the soldier's wife.

Fletcher was arrested over the weekend for driving a stolen vehicle. She admitted to stealing from her son when pressed by police.
