Cleveland (WOIO) - The Mid-American Conference announced their players of the week for week 3 of the college football season.
Matt Weller, who is from Twinsburg, takes home another MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week award for his performance against Marshall.
Here are the other winners as announced by the conference.
Offensive Player of the Week: Ohio QB Tyler Tettleton
Junior quarterback Tyler Tettleton (Norman, Okla.) helped lead Ohio to a thrilling 27-24 come-from-behind win at Marshall Saturday night as the Bobcats improved to 3-0 on the year. Tettleton went 20-of-35 through the air for 200 yards, completing passes to nine different receivers. He also passed for three touchdowns and did not throw an interception as he improved to 13-4 as a starter. Tettleton has now thrown three or more touchdowns in five games throughout his career. Dating back to last season, Tettleton has not thrown an interception in his last 129 attempts.
Defensive Player of the Week: Bowling Green DT Chris Jones
Senior defensive tackle Chris Jones (Brownsburg, Ind.) had four tackles, 2.0 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss in the Falcons' 27-15 loss to Toledo. Jones, who also added a forced fumble, was part of a Falcon defensive line that held Toledo to just 130 yards on the ground, 50 yards below their season average.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Ohio K Matt Weller
Senior kicker Matt Weller (Twinsburg, Ohio) connected on a pair of field goals, including the game winner from 38-yards out as Ohio improved to 3-0 on the year. He was also a perfect 3-for-3 on extra points. On kickoffs, Weller averaged 59.8 yards per kick and posted a pair of touchbacks.
Offensive Player of the Week: Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch
Junior quarterback Jordan Lynch (Chicago, Ill.) passed for 342 yards and four touchdowns while completing 18-of-27 passes to lead Northern Illinois to a 41-40 victory over Army Saturday at West Point. Lynch's 342 passing yards is the seventh-highest single game total in school history while his four touchdown passes tie for the eighth-most at Northern Illinois. The junior added 125 yards rushing on 13 carries and a touchdown. He totaled 467 yards of total offense on the day, which ranks third all-time at Northern Illinois, and was responsible for five total touchdowns. Lynch hit Martel Moore from eight yards out for the game-winning touchdown pass with 4:29 left in the game after a 13-play, 72-yard drive. He also threw touchdown passes of 31 and 69 yards on the day. He scored on an 88-yard touchdown run.
Defensive Player of the Week: Toledo DB Cheatham Norrils
Sophomore defensive back Cheatham Norrils (Toledo, Ohio) had a season-high seven tackles and picked off his first career interception in a 27-15 win over Bowling Green. Norrils added his interception in the second quarter and the Toledo offense converted the turnover into a touchdown to open a 17-0 early lead.
