PARMA, OH (WOIO) - A 24-year-old Parma mother pled no contest to child endangering Wednesday morning, after her three-year-old son was found wandering alone in the rain Tuesday morning.
The judge then sentenced Amanda Aleman to 180 days in jail; however, he gave her credit for two days served and suspended the remaining sentence.
Aleman was also fined $250 and put on probation for 12 months.
A concerned citizen brought the three-year-old boy to the police station at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, after she found him walking alone near Grantwood Drive and West 44th.
At the time the boy was found, he was wet from the rain and appeared to have been outside for a period of time.
Hours later, police received a call from a resident who recognized the boy and directed authorities to Wellington Avenue.
Responding officers spoke with the child's mother, who had been sleeping and was unaware the boy had left the house.
A record check revealed that Aleman had a Parma warrant for Failure to Appear on a seat belt violation.
The little boy remains with other family members for safe keeping.
