MENTOR, OH (WOIO) - An Eastlake man is sentenced for punching a 10-year-old boy. Aaron Vitolo, 24, was babysitting the boy and his two siblings as a favor for his friend.
Vitolo says the boy was disrespectful, but claims he only slapped him. However, the child says he was punched. The boy suffered a bruised nose and swollen lip.
Vitolo was found guilty of a misdemeanor count of child endangerment. On Monday, he was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 172 days suspended. Vitolo was then given credit for the eight days he already served. He is also on probation for one year and fined $300.
Before his sentencing, Vitolo completed an anger management course.
Judge John Trebets also ordered Vitolo to get his GED and stay away from the boy and his family.
