Elyria Police investigate report of child lured to car

ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - Elyria Police are investigating a report of possible child enticement.

Police were sent to Barbara and Garden streets at 6:48 this morning for a report that a man tried to lure a boy into his vehicle with candy.

The boy, whose age was not listed, told police he was waiting at the bus stop with his friend when a black man in a white four-door vehicle stopped and asked if they wanted candy. The boy said he and his friend ran home and later returned to the bus stop and reported the incident to the bus driver.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after but were unable to locate the vehicle. The man was described as in his 30s with braids, wearing a black shirt and baseball hat.

Lorain police received similar reports of child enticement last week, but that man was described as a white male in his 40s with black hair and a goatee or mustache. The suspect also offered candy to two children waiting at their bus stops.

Lt. Andy Eichenlaub said he does not believe the incident is related to the Lorain incidents and has had no similar reports.
