Solon bank robbery suspect indicted

A grand jury indicted a suspect in a July bank robbery in Solon.

Ralphel A. Penn, 25, of Stow was indicted on Sept. 18 by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury. He is already being held in Summit County Jail under $250,000 bond for robberies in Akron and Northfield Village.

According to Solon Police, at 4:10 p.m. July 6 a lone male entered the Ohio Savings Bank at 34206 Aurora Road and handed a note to a teller demanding $3,000 in cash.  No weapon was seen.  He was given a small amount of $1 bills in a packet and he immediately left the scene, fleeing on foot.  He was not apprehended at the time.

Solon Police detectives learned that a suspect in other robberies fit the same description and M.O.  That suspect was positively identified as the Solon robber through photographic and forensic evidence.
