The Halloween decorations have just come out but already, retailers are thinking Christmas and stores know it'll take a beefed up staff to handle the crowds of shoppers.
Target Corp. announced that it will to hire up to 90,000 holiday workers this season. The new employees will be placed in both stores and distribution centers.
"I think it's amazing, compared to the economy, that those stores are able to put people to work," said a Target shopper.
Target plans to hire as many as 80 people in its Mentor store alone.
"That is all different kind of work centers, like early morning flow, stock the store, cashiers and sales floor team members. We're looking to hire a lot of talented people to make the holiday season very smooth," said Jenna Perpar.
Seasonal employees get work from mid-October into January and a store discount. Plus, Target Rep. Jenna Perpar says you may not have to look for a new job after the new year.
"Last year Target kept as a company, 30% of their seasonal team members. So we're hiring a little less than last year but that's because we kept on so much talent and we didn't want to let them go," said Jenna Perpar.
Target encourages people to apply online or in one of its in store kiosks, you'll get in the system and hired easier.
Sears, KMart, Kohl's and Macy's are among the other retailers now recruiting. If you'd rather be outside or anywhere but a mall this fall there are other seasonal positions open at Boston Mills Brandywine Ski Resorts. And they're already hiring at the Chalet Recreation area in Strongsville for hayrides and toboganning.
