Cleveland police officer back from service in Afghanistan

David Lam was welcomed back to the Cleveland Police Department this week after spending the last year in Afghanistan with the Ohio Army National Guard.

On Monday, Sept. 17 Safety Director Martin Flask administered the oath of office to Lam, who has been with the Cleveland Police Department since 2008. A first lieutenant with the Ohio Army National Guard, Lam returned home from Afghanistan in August and was reunited with his loved ones, including his 3-year-old daughter and family.

Also returning was officer Aaron Petitt, who has been with the Cleveland Division of Police since 2007 and left to pursue other endeavors.
