Economic building boost

ROCKY RIVER, OH (WOIO) - New luxury townhomes just opening up in Rocky River feature 4,000 sq. ft. and five levels overlooking the Rocky River and Metroparks. It's hard to believe, but The Eleven River Luxury Townhomes were built during tough economic times .

"When we began this project it was in the middle of the economic collapse just after 2008, and before we sold one of them I was nervous about moving forward, but, I had this strong belief that people would be attracted to this type of living," Developer Andrew Brickman says.

Ten of the 11 townhomes have already been sold. Brickman says they offer a little more than others in the $750,000 price range. They feature geo-thermal heating and cooling Brickman says saves 70 percent on utilities. And the heating, air and lights in the house are all controlled by your smartphone.

"This type of low maintenance living is close proximity to parks, close to the city.  People don't want urban sprawl anymore they want to come back to the city," Brickman added.

The eco-conscious construction includes bamboo flooring and other materials. If you don't want to use the stairs, how about your personal elevator, along with a private boat dock, things Brickman says makes his homes unique.

"The city of Cleveland is sort of experiencing a bit of a renaissance right now and we're trying to ride that momentum and contribute to that momentum."
