The safety of the water system is important, but it comes at a cost - the city of Cleveland will spent up to $75,000 to replace a security gate that was found propped open.
The Kirtland Water Plant on the East Side has had a broken gate for weeks. The Water Department has a contract with a company to replace the gate, which could cost as much as $75,000 depending on how much electrical work is needed.
A city official said it could be a few more weeks until all repairs are done. Meanwhile, the city will make sure guards are posted there 24/7.
