Euclid Beach Park was back "open" for one day, including two of the rides.
For eight years now, the group Euclid Beach Park Now has held the event to celebrate "all things Euclid Beach." Today's event also celebrated the installation of a permanent marker at Euclid Beach State Park. The sign commemorates three rides - the Thriller, Racing Coaster and Flying Turns.
The Euclid Beach Boys brought back the Thriller Coaster Car and Rocket Ship Car, offering rides in an original coaster car from the Thriller and one of three original cars from the Rocket Ship ride.
New this year was a Kiddieland area with pony rides and other activities.
The event was co-sponsored by Euclid Beach Park Now and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Since its founding in 1989, EBPN has dedicated itself to preserving the history and memories of Euclid Beach Park for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
