The 54 proud recruits of the 129th Police Academy class of the Cleveland Division of Police began rigorous training on Monday.
Those attending the academy were selected from a Civil Service exam for the position of Patrol Officer administered in July of 2009. Candidates underwent a battery of tests and a comprehensive background check before being tendered a conditional offer of employment.
Those selected will be given over 900 hours of instruction in police tactics, criminal law and community diversity training. More than one third of the training that the recruits will receive was crafted specifically to prepare our future officers to be responsive to the needs of our community.
The new officers are scheduled to graduate from the Cleveland Police Academy on Thursday, March 28, 2013.
