Cleveland (WOIO) - One day after calling out his former manager, Manny Acta, for a lack of passion, Indians' closer Chris Perez was speaking out again, this time to 19 Action News Sports Director Tony Zarrella, telling Zarrella he does, indeed, want to return to the Tribe next season.
"Why not? I still have two years left on my deal", said Perez, whose controversial comments throughout the season, on subjects including fan support, lack of moves from the front office, and the team's August collapse, have led some to believe he's trying to orchestrate an offseason trade.
"I like it here, I like the bullpen, I want to stay and have us get better", Perez added.
Perez also reiterated he believes a team feeds off the personality of its' manager, and that Acta should have shown more fire and passion during the Indians' 5-24 August slide.
