Trees taken down due to invasive insect

FAIRVIEW PARK, OH (WOIO) -

The Illuminating Company will be removing trees in Fairview Park because of emerald ash borer infestation.

Ash trees near electric lines pose a safety threat and the trees will be removed during the fall and winter seasons. The emerald ash borer is an invasive insect that destroys ash trees. Trees infested start a slow decline and then can die very quickly. The trees become brittle and start to lose their limbs.

Residents will be contacted by the Illuminating Company is ash trees pose a threat. Trees will be removed at no cost to property owners. Wood will be left in manageable sizes and stumps will be left on the property.
