LAKE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - A jury trial is underway for the 52-year-old woman accused of killing her 77-year-old neighbor in Madison Township.
Danna Weimer faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder and tampering with evidence. On Wednesday, the Prosecution wrapped up their case. The Defense is not calling any witnesses. Closing arguments are expected to begin Thursday morning.
Police say Danna and her son, Zach, robbed and murdered Eleanor Robertson inside her home this past June.
Robertson's body was discovered inside her Canterbury Drive home after a concerned neighbor called police. The neighbor told police he feared the home had been burglarized.
Officers found the home had been ransacked, but were unable to locate Robertson. As the investigation continued, Robertson's body was found hidden inside her home. She had around 90 stab wounds.
Prosecutors are making the case that this was a crime fueled by a drug addiction.
Zach's trial is schedule start on November 13.
