(WOIO) - Well, if you and I ran our family budgets like most free-spending government agencies do theirs, we'd end our days holding a tin cup on public square.
Case in point. The Cuyahoga County Port Authority spent $350,000 of our tax dollars to hire a consultant to help solve a dredging problem that threatens to affect shipping on Cleveland's Lakefront.
The consultants conclusion: there is no crisis, as long as the Port Authority implements a simple fix that it turns out the board was fully aware of two years ago but ignored. Well, multiply that episode by a million or so from sea to shining sea and is it any wonder that the nation itself is some 16 trillion in debt.
