The jury has started to deliberate the fate of the man accused of killing a Cleveland school teacher in 2008.
Closing arguments wrapped on Thursday morning, and the jury got the case around 1:30 p.m.
Police say Richard Penque, 24, shot Marilyn Habian, 54, in her home on Ball Avenue in Euclid in April of 2008. Habian was found shot to death in her basement. She died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Penque was a neighbor who lived across the street from Habian.
Police say Penque killed Habian, and then put combustibles on top of the stove and started a fire.
Police believe the motive was burglary.
Prosecutors say jailhouse snitches got information from Penque that only the killer would know. The defense claims there is no scientific evidence that ties Penque to the crime.
