We've found Cleveland's murder rate is soaring. According to the chief's office, the city had 75 killings for all of last year. But the number is already 71 for so far this year.
The Cleveland Police homicide unit keeps stats differently-a broader number with investigations including justified homicides. That number for the year is 86.
No simple reason for the increase. We've seen murders during robberies, drug deals, fights--even gang violence.
Some of the cases have had multiple suspects. Some made headlines, and they're still unsolved including a case with 3 people shot execution style on the far east side back in August.
