PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a double fatality.
The accident happened at 2 p.m. Thursday in Plymouth Township, Ashtabula County.
The preliminary investigation shows a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by 70-year-old Sandra Fisher was traveling westbound on JR 90 in the left lane. Fisher veered off the left side of the roadway into the median and then back onto the roadway. She then drove off the left side of the roadway again, traveled through the median and into the east bound lanes of travel.
A car in the right lane of travel struck Fisher's car.
Sheffield Township EMS, along with Plymouth Township EMS, responded to the scene and extricated both Fisher and the front passenger, Carl Fisher. The couple succumbed to their injuries on scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash.
All occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not being considered as a factor in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
