Fundraiser planned for hit & run victim, driver still out there

The 12-year-old girl critically injured in a hit and run accident in September is now well enough to go back to school. 

Katie Adkins will return to class on Monday.

On Wednesday, October 17, Katie's family will hold a fundraiser for her at the American Legion on 49th and Memphis.

The event is from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.  There will be a Chinese Raffle, auction, food and music.  Organizers are also asking for a $5 donation.

A fund for the victim has also been set up to help with hospital costs.  A donation can be made at any Third Federal Savings & Loan.  Contributions should be made under the name Kaitlyn H. Adkins.

Adkins was hit on Friday, September 14, while crossing Denison Ave. at W. 31st St. in Cleveland.  The driver took off leaving and even though a security camera caught video of the driver so far there as been no arrests.

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information about this incident to contact the Accident Investigation Unit at 216-623-5295. Anonymous information can be given to Crime Stoppers by calling 216-25-CRIME or Text "TIP657" plus your message to CRIMES (274637).
