On August 17, members of the Cleveland APL staff went to Shelby to assist the Richland County Humane Society and Humane Society of the United States with the rescue of over 240 dogs, mostly Chihuahuas, from a puppy mill. They lived in horrible conditions in cages, stacked upon each other.
The Cleveland APL took in 42 of those dogs. They were all given basic physicals and medical care (vaccines, flea treatment, heartworm tests, deworming), and baths.
Despite the horrific conditions they have endured, the sweet, little dogs are doing well and most have already been adopted.
One little pup, Pinocchio, still needs a forever home. The other dogs have either been adopted or are still receiving medical care.
Anyone wishing to adopt Pinocchio may call the APL at 216-771-4616. There will be others available for adoption once their health improves.
