Cleveland man fatally stabbed on city's east side

A 36-year-old Cleveland man was fatally stabbed on the city's east side early Sunday morning.

It happened at 2:15 a.m. at East 131st and Winton's Place.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the victim, identified as William Lane, was arguing with a male known as "D" over a debt that "D" owed the victim. The argument escalated to physical confrontation, where the victim was assaulting the smaller "D." During the assault, "D" produced a knife and stabbed Lane multiple times. After stabbing Lane, "D" fled the scene.

Lane was conveyed by EMS to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he expired from his injuries.
