LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - Police rescue an emaciated Mastiff from a garage in Lorain over the weekend.
Cops were called to a home in the 200 block of East 29th Street around 10 p.m. Saturday for a loud party.
Officers found the starving dog tied up, unable to move, covered in sores and lying in his own feces.
The dog, weighing less than 100 pounds, was taken to Lorain Animal Emergency Clinic for treatment. The dog is estimated to be a couple years old.
It's believed the dog was able to survive by eating garbage he found in the garage.
19 Action News has learned the homeowner moved several years ago, but her son still lives in the home. He was aware the dog was in the garage. Animal cruelty charges are being recommended to the Prosecutor's Office.
The dog isn't healthy enough for adoption at this time. Once the dog recovers, the owner will have to surrender their rights to the dog before a new adoption may take place.
