Pomeranian mauled on way to Lakewood's Spooky Pooch Parade

LAKEWOOD, OH (WOIO) -

An investigation is underway after a dog was mauled on the way to the Spooky Pooch Parade in Lakewood on Saturday.

The attack happened around 1:30 p.m. in the area of St. Charles Avenue.

Police say a Lakewood resident was exiting her car with her two dogs. Both of the dogs, a male Mastiff and female Rottweiler, were leashed.

A North Royalton resident was walking by with her Pomeranian, which was also leashed, when the Mastiff grabbed the Pomeranian. The Mastiff shook and killed the Pomeranian.

The Rottweiler was not involved in the attack.

The Lakewood dog owner will be charged with allowing her dog to attack another dog. The city of Lakewood will also schedule a dangerous dog hearing to determine the future status of the animal.
