TRAVEL ALERT: President Obama's visit prompts evening road closu - Cleveland 19 News Cleveland, OH

Burke Lakefront Airport home to Air Force One, for a day

President Obama kicked off his two-day, non-stop "America Forward!" tour on Wednesday with grassroots events in Iowa, Colorado and Nevada.

On Thursday, President Obama continued the "America Forward" tour with grassroots events in Florida, Virginia and Ohio. The "America Forward!" tour crisscrossed the nation, reaching as many voters as possible.

The President will end the tour with a tarmac event at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland.  The president's speech was literally given from the tarmac of Burke.  The major push over the past two days has been early voting.  In fact before coming to Cleveland, the president stopped off in Chicago and voted.

Both candidates have campaigned in Cleveland and Ohio going on countless times.  The polls have shown the presidents lead in Ohio has shrunk. An average of all major polls shows just a two point lead for Obama, considering the margin of error, its a virtual tie. Which pretty much guarantees both candidates will be back here before November 6th.

The special event at Burke Lakefront Airport between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., the following roadways will be closed:

Rt. 2 eastbound at E. 9th Street.

Rt. 2 westbound at the I- 90, Rt. 2 split (Dead Man's Curve).

I 90 eastbound at the entrance ramp to Rt. 2 westbound

W. 3rd Street entrance ramp to Rt. 2 eastbound

Local Access Only:

N. Marginal Road E. 9th Street to E. 55th Street between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. ( Local traffic must enter the North Marginal from E. 55th Street)

Rt. 2 eastbound traffic will be diverted to Superior and to E. 26 where motorist will have access to I 71, I 77 and back to Rt. 2 eastbound. Traffic Controllers and Police Officers will be on hand to direct motorists during the closures.

The below eastbound on-ramps to Rt. 2 will also be closed between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.:

  • Lake Avenue
  • Clifton Avenue
  • West 45th Street
  • West 28th Street
