Rec center worker charged with rape

We have learned a City of Cleveland Rec Center worker has been charged with rape, after he allegedly sexually assaulted a teen at a rec center.

Police say Robert Beavers, 26, sexually assaulted a 15-year-old worker. It happened at the Stella Walsh Rec Center in the 7300 block of Broadway in Cleveland. Sex crimes investigators had a warrant out and arrested Beavers Thursday.

City Hall Officials say he worked at the rec center part time. A police report shows the girl had been working there too, for her summer job. She says Beavers started making friendly advances, and then he got physical. She pushed him away. A few days later, the victim says Beavers sexually assaulted her at the rec center.

Beavers has resigned and records show he is now sitting in the county jail. The case will now go to a grand jury.
