Trent Richardson scored on a 26 yard touchdown run on the Browns first drive of the game. They never scored again, and they didn't need to. The defense, with an assist from the weather, held the San Diego offense to two field goals in a 7-6 win.
On a day with plenty of wind and rain Richardson ran for 122 yards on 24 carries, he also caught one pass for 12 yards to convert a third down late in the game.
Neither quarterback enjoyed much success. Brandon Weeden was 11 of 27 for 129 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. His rating was 55.9. Philip Rivers completed 18 of 34 passes for 154 yards, no scores or picks, and a rating of 65.1.
San Diego kicked field goals in the second and third quarters. They were driving for potential game winning field goal, but the Browns defense forced a turnover on downs with under a minute to play. The Chargers had driven to the Cleveland 44.
The Browns improve to 2-6, they host Baltimore next Sunday.
